I know that the lower intestine is inflated during the colonoscopy procedure. The question is does the doctor use air or nitrogen? If nitrogen, the oxygen content is reduced so there can not be combustion.

We use air or carbon dioxide. These days combustion doesn’t happen, but in the old days when mannitol or sorbitol were used as purges, it did happen. It was always catastrophic.
