Same here. No Doubt was opening for reggae artist Pato Banton touring college bars. Saw the band at Fort Ram, Fort Collins, CO.
I remember signing up on their mailing list and receiving fliers in the mail hawking merchandise. Wish I'd saved some of it. It wasn't much later when Tragic Kingdom exploded, bringing them the success they had been working their tails off for.
No Doubt was responsible for a lot of kids discovering the great ska acts of the early 80s, like The Specials and Madness.
