The University Town Center Mall in Sarasota, Florida, has issued a very specific directive:
"For choral groups, the Mall prefers no clearly recognizable Christian music, such as carols sung in English, spirituals or gospel."
In a memo sent out to area groups who are normally invited to perform seasonal music, the upscale shopping mall leaders have in effect banned any music that could be recognized as "Christian." . . . . . . .

Oi vey. It’s a Taubman mall. http://www.taubman.com/taubman-properties/the-mall-at-university-town-center/

I’m old enough to remember when Jewish merchants welcomed Christian shoppers at Christmas.
“I must admit I get tired of listening to Jingle Bells after the 3rd time.”
Then try it backwards! “Missile revolt, missile revolt...”
;^)
That mall seriously needs a few singing flash mobs. Or customers should ban it from their shopping list.
I wonder if Feliz Navidad passes muster. Mix of Mexican and English.

And Muslims can’t sing, so shoppers should avoid this joyless mall this Christmas season. Let’s see how much they make from atheists.
More than a boycott, how about an order for a truckload of coal to be delivered, and dumped in to the mall’s food court. DJT, time to rejuvenate Christmas in your ‘home’
State of Florida.
‘Hark the Herald Angels sing, Glory to the New Born KING.”
The malls want your money, just not your songs. Then an unknown shoots you just for the Christmas Joy ...did they mention ‘Ali Snackbar’?
Geez, thanks for reminding us we have at least one more year of that monster Karenga’s fake Kwanzaa in the white hut.
Drives Mrs WBill nuts. Wbill Jr. thinks it's funny, though. :-) I've not reached the "Sheesh, you're a Dork, Dad" stage yet.
"For choral groups, the Mall prefers no clearly recognizable Christian music, such as carols sung in English, spirituals or gospel."
So you can sneak in a "Stille Nacht" or a "Feliz Navidad" just so long as it's not in English? Might we even be so brave as to sing Adeste Fideles just so long as no one screws up and sings an English verse?
“such as carols sung in English”
So Latin hymns are okay?
Thanks!
The country might be getting over it.
They’re celebrating a Christian holiday but don’t want Christmas music. Boycott this mall!
“There is Christmas music but it’s been toned down to only 25 percent or so. Shoppers complained about 24/7 Christmas music all the time. I must admit I get tired of listening to Jingle Bells after the 3rd time.”
They start playing it in freakin’ September!
How about “Onward Muslim jidahists”?
I don’t like “retail” Christmas in July, August, September, October, November. Need to keep the Holidays separate.
Now that’s a great idea........but the shoppers should still boycott the mall and the shop keepers sue them.
They could play my personal favorites, some Polskie Koledy (Polish Christmas Carols).
