Ha! You’re obviously doing things right if she’s warming up to you so well.

My previous kitty Pearl was 2 when I brought her home. Before that, she was my vet tech’s “basement cat” because she would fight her senior cat if they were together. So not a bright beginning for us when she disappeared completely w/in 24 hours of my bringing her home. I thought I was going to have to report to the VT that somehow her kitty slipped out the door & was gone forever!

Turns out she’d secreted herself inside the guts of the hide-a-bed sofa. Much as you’ve reported, not sociable, no sign there’s even a cat in the house.

Eventually she warmed to me enough to come cuddle for snoozing on my chest & a belly rub at bedtime. But always hid for company.

Years later when her compromised kidneys required holding her captive to force pills down her throat... her unhappiness over that played a part in my decision to end her suffering. But she had a happy life w/ me before that. No regrets.

For you I’d add a toy-on-string-on-a-stick so she can satisfy her play urges w/out fear of your hands, if she’s still skittish. You know how kittens get the big crazy eyes sometimes but it becomes a play session? Otherwise, it looks like your relationship is going great.

I was concerned about her not eating but last night I set out a bowl of hard cat food which she ate. Apparently that's what she was used to at her foster home.....

She feels comfortable when I'm in bed and she walks all over me all night long but as soon as I get out of bed, she's back in hiding. Much of the house is now sealed off to her so her only escape place is under the bed..........that's ok.
