That is an interesting conclusion. It would seem a little hard to prove it, one way or the other.

This is a map of the muslim world. Before islam, Europe traded with people all the way into India and China. India, China, and everything in between was known from the time of Alexander the Great.

Then islam expanded and cut off the trade routes between Asia and Europe, especially the Silk Road. You can see that in the map. Europe was isolated from other civilizations, and this was a big part of why they fell into a dark age. Look at how small Europe is compared to the muslim world. Muslims had all the advantages of trade and wealth. They would have absorbed Europe eventually.

This is a map of the voyages of discovery. Once Europe had recovered from the dark ages enough, and Spain had fought off the muslim occupiers, they developed an Apollo program to find an alternate, sea route to Asia in order to re-establish trade, without going through muslim territory. Compare the two maps, look at the areas the Europeans are deliberately avoiding.

The gamble succeeded beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Not only did they re-establish trade, they discovered two large continents uninhabited by muslims, which they could colonize. The Christian world became larger and more wealthy than the muslim world. The muslim world lost their caliphate, and fell into their own dark age. Now they live in boundaries drawn by Europeans. Only the discovery of oil has given them any relevance at all, and when that goes, they will fade away.

"Shitcago has more Mexicans in it than does Mexico City."

Since Mexico City's Mexican population is 8.8 million, and Chicago's TOTAL population is 2.7 million, your statement is silly on stilts.

Just got back from an Italian food store. Political correctness killed Columbus Day. NO mention of CD ANYWHERE in the store. No special sales.

I DID see an obese, pregnant Sudanese Muslim woman and her daughter with ZERO English language skills EXPECTING to be waited on by a middle aged, skinny Italian man who worked at the store.

You could SEE the frustration on his face. She would not pick up one tiny light box and actually expected ME to help her as the Italian man carted her out with cases of pasta, etc. Boxes were literally spilling off at the heavily ladened cart.

She gestured at me and pointed as if to say, YOU, PEON, pick up my STUFF! I ignored her and walked past.

Probably all EBT purchases. She climbed into a brand new Toyota Highlander to add injury to insult!

Umm I am a naturalized American (originally from Canada) and I NEVER expected to be waited on and not speak English!!

I almost threw up in my mouth when the older Italian lady at the cash register was trying to appease her by telling her how “beautiful” her wildly coloured dress was.

How about this then: Chicongo’s Mexican population is second only to that of New York’s in size.

But the vast, overwhelming majority of murders in Chitcago are not Mexicans.

What a story.

There are some odd behaviors out there.

I've never experienced what you experienced, but I think it will become more common with the increased/increasing Muslim immigration.

At some public gathering I attended, there was a black girl wearing a Remember Trayvon shirt. Is it really OK to enlist children in propaganda campaigns? Especially one so dubious!

One form of odd behavior comes from the liberal who is full of stereotypes. They will think they know what I think, but never sincerely ask. I've run across this several times in several ways. It is just about impossible to have a decent conversation with someone who is deeply indoctrinated by the left.

At one point in the cell phone era, I routinely held doors open for women. They passed me without recognition talking on their cell phones. I stopped holding the door open for women talking on cell phones. Minor problem, I know. Anyway, one way or another that problem has been solved. For example one woman on her phone, looked at me, smiled, and silently mouthed "thank you" as I held the door open for her. If she hadn't made early eye-contact, smiled, and hurried a little, I would have let the door go. It's ingrained in me now.

I've recently moved to a conservative, Christian community. Everyone is so nice! I think I have been on guard all my life. Here the only problem is that I might not be nice enough myself.

Perhaps we should remember Columbus and Martel with a holiday, “Muslim Resistance Day” to be celebrated on October 11th of each year.

Columbus knew about the existence of Japan from reading Marco Polo, and greatly underestimated the size of the earth, so he thought he could sail from Spain to Japan.

If he had been right about the circumference of the globe, and the American continents had not been in the way, what would have happened? He reached an island in the Bahamas about 24 degrees North. If he had been near Asia instead, he would have missed Japan and run into Taiwan.

Would he have made it back to Spain alive or would the people back in Spain have been left wondering what ever happened to him?
