Johnson had "an unfillable hole in his ego," Moyers says. Feelings of emptiness spurred him to eat, drink, and smoke to excess. Sexual conquests also helped to fill the void. He was a competitive womanizer. When people mentioned Kennedy's many affairs, Johnson would bang the table and declare that he had more women by accident than Kennedy ever had on purpose.

This election is becoming a sort of seminar in the psycho-pathology of power. But this is good in the sense that the greater psychopathy of the Clintons will inevitably rise to the surface.

What we’re seeing is rather like a dolphin leaping from the water, but in a day or two a killer whale will do the same thing.

Things that were swept under the rug for two generations will now have to be seen and understood. Trump is just everyman in this scenario, but the really big fish are not, they are the new Roman imperial class and if the nation follows them the results will be the same, the empire will collapse under a vast weight of debauchery and corruption.

Trump’s best move? He should start out by saying, “this has all made me think about my conduct, and about events in our political life over the past fifty years — and I am ready to make a new start.”

We’ll see if that wipes the smirk off the Clintons’ faces.

When my husband was in the Air Force back in the ‘70s we ran into a guy who was on some sort of detail for Johnson at the White House. He was telling how part of their job was to escort bimbos through some tunnel at the White House so Johnson could screw them.
