Just quit, period. It’s more a mental thing than a physical need.
In 1987 I was told I had throat cancer, that instant I quit, I have not smoked since. Once you are mentally tuned into quitting, as I was, the actual physical withdrawal is just but a few days, the rest is habit.
Quit torturing yourself with all the gimmickery, just stop it.
Before quitting I could not climb a set a stairs without stopping and trying to catch my breath. After a couple of years I could climb all I wanted to.
But in later years COPD will catch up with just about any smoker. It’s so important to just quit right now.
Going cold turkey is tough and like any drug withdrawal takes about 3 days to get over the psychical need/effects. After that it’s all mental and behavioral modification.
