The story will linger for an additional day as every news outlet warns us against the "Muslim backlash" and has crying-jag individuals featured from CAIR.

You could be right. In such situations the media and politicians are pretty much indifferent about the people killed in a terrorist attack. The big issue and the big story is anxiety that someone might say something that will hurt a Muslim’s feelings.
