FDA, CDC, World Health tell us physicians NOT to prescribe this as first choice for community acquired pneumonia due to the plethora of side effects and fears of resistance generated; FDA just issued a black-box warning for it.
Azithromycin, biaxin, doxycycline, all better “first choice” antibiotics for CAP.
