Hillary tried to sound tough, but came across as very angry. Obviously working hard to recite her canned answers.
First couple questions to Hillary from Lauer and the audience concerning her email were rough. Hillary looked and sounded defensive, like she was fighting the urge to bellow and throw things.
Trump was cool as a cucumber. Great demeanor and voice. He could have handled questions more deftly, but the questions were stacked against him, and he had to debate Lauer who kept interrupting. Lauer had Trump tweets ready to bolster the stacked questions.
The other problem was Trump was asked a few questions on very complex questions, things that can’t be answered in a couple of minutes and things that shouldn’t be laid out publicly: What is your precise, detailed plan to defeat ISIS?
Lauer tried to Palin Trump: “Are you reading and studying? Will you be ready on day one?” Stupid. No one worried about Obama.
I wish he would say "Look, when I become President the world situation isn't going to be exactly the same as it is now so it would be stupid to broadcast a plan that might not be relevant 6 months from now. You'll see the results of my plan in 7 months."
