One problem, this statement has been proven untrue, I believe.
It helps but it doesn’t solve the problem of people making more cholesterol(via genetics) than they may take in, even with their diets strictly controlled. They don’t reduce damage already done though they help reduce future deposits of fatty products. Inflammation of affected vasculature in the heart is a great danger and seems to be increasingly implicated in heart attacks as well.
