Fresh Water?, waste control?, food?, energy source?, medical care?, a foolish proposition that will be destroyed by the first bad weather. A fool and his money is soon parted!
None of those examples are of societies basing their economies on bitcoin though. The basic problem I’m curious about is how does one enforce a judgement? Let’s say I don’t agree with a ruling against me and I’m just not going to pay. What can they do? Expel me? Even then I still don’t have to pay.
The use of crypto-currency, as a means of exchange, doesn't prevent a society from enforcing some kind of community based judgement against a member(s).
That’s how come I replied twice.

Just wait until hurricane season.
Nailed it...
Yep. It's not unusual for storms to track right through the Florida Straits.
No, but it does prevent you from being able to collect money from someone, which is what civil cases are almost always about.
Sounds more like one of those "eco-pod" experimental community structures, only floating (presumably anchored) in the Gulf Stream.
It's not as cool as, say, a Bond film villain's lair:
Give ‘em a couple of hurricanes and it will be a ghost town and a navigation hazard.
I’ve been on a pipeline barge in the Gulf of Mexico being towed in as a hurricane was bearing down. When the waves are so high that you see the tug towing you only every so often and your life depends on a single cable not snapping then you Know Who is really in charge and that we exist by his grace alone. Everybody should do it at least once.
Pro-abortion people set up hospital ships that could do abortions.
Imagine something far more life-affirming set up just off shore when Obamacare starts denying types of care per cost saving measures and those on Medicare aren’t allowed to get the care in the US outside of the Medicare network.
There are areas not far from the equator (Pacific) suitable for long term parking of a sea-stead; but, not in the middle of hurricane alley for the Atlantic.
Likely being sold for aging lefties who are consumed with trying to live forever though medicines etc. On this “island” any kind of unethical research with embryos, cloning, animal human hybrids etc. will likely be allowed. The Bahamas need to look into this and see if they are really onboard with it.
It would be nice, though, for there to be somewhere where informed people could be involved in experimental drugs if that is their only human hope for living longer. Now people die while they drugs may exist that can help them, if they weren’t still prohibited by the FDA.
Drugs, child prostitution, pornography ...
Very possibly. The Bahamas are known among Christians to be a very Christianized island. I hope that they aren't fooled into supporting anything that they wouldn't want to support.
