Not just the term but what is signifies, i.e., the traditional, sacramental nature. My brother got married in a humanist society ceremony by a female humanist "minister". He's been married 25 years. What has worked in my brother's case will not work, IMHO, in Western civilization's case.

Interesting. My aunt got married in the Oakland Humanist Hall a few years ago. The ceremony was a cross between New Age practices and Jewish tradition (husband is a secular Jew), and the "minister" was an Asian female spiritualist.

Strangest wedding I've ever been to, and it sounds like it's not as unique as I though it was.
