They actually came from Jacksonville Florida. And for whats it worth department. I just watched them in concert in Reno NV tonight and they were fantastic. The sound ( equipment speaking )is so much better than it was back in the 70’s. The had the house rocking at the Peppermill.

I was living near Jacksonville, in the early 70's when Lynyrd Skynyrd hit the big time. In '71 the band Molly Hatchet started up. But the Allman Bros. were probably more popular locally, at that time.
