Black Mountain is nearly a suburb of Asheville. Plenty of good medical help within 30 minutes.

Mission Hospital in Asheville is top notch and they have satellite/affiliated hospitals through out the region.

Yup. Grace Hospital is in Morganton, about 15-20 minutes from Lake James. There are also larger hospitals in Charlotte and Asheville.
The Lake is fed by streams coming from the pristine Blue Ridge Mountains.
