“They seem to be overly concerned with respect that they didn’t earn or somehow frittered away.”
Waiting in line at chic fil-a earlier this week, noticed the black cashier taking orders from people. Most were very polite in the way they ordered. Please and thank you.
Then she got a middle aged black patron. Give me a number 4. Extra this. None of that. No please, no thank you, no common courtesy. The cashier was courteous back, however.
I don’t buy into the white privilege crap, but I put myself in the cashier’s shoes for a minute. Must be embarrassing and depressing to see with your own eyes, day in and day out, why stereotypes exist against your own race. Not that there aren’t decent blacks, and rude whites, but it sure seems to slant one way on the average.
If the cashier has any brains and any self-respect, he or she will vote for Donald rather than an continuation of things as they are.
The use of “Gimme” when ordering puzzles me. There was a diner in my neighborhood where I heard it so many times I could no longer ignore it. I do not claim it was used 100% of the time but the percentage was staggering. Beyond representing a clear “cultural divide” it provides a window into a particular mentality.
