I agree. What conservatives should is step in and find a way to keep this a private initiative.
Conservatives should promote the concept of “pride in oneself” even if they are poor. Clean clothes can be a symbol of SELF-RESPECT and self-responsibility, things that are often not being successfully taught in our schools like they used to be.
The same goes for providing notebooks, pens and pencils, paper and the other implements of education. Give/donate it to the kids, tell them that it is theirs to use in school, and that they are responsible for using it for their education, not games.
Again, match up the gift with responsibility and respect. Not much else seems to be working except uniforms in some schools to create an equality of dress and respect.
