What was meant as a joke about Usain Bolt and Ellen DeGeneres swiftly went awry on Twitter.
On Monday, the daytime talk show host’s official Twitter account tweeted a doctored image of Ellen riding the back of the gold medalist.
The photo is the now famous one of him smiling as he heads to winning the men’s 100m race at the Olympics in Rio.
The tweet’s caption from Ellen reads “This is how I’m running errands from now on.”
Some on Twitter found the image less than golden, with cries of racism and insensitivity in joking about a white woman riding the back of a black man.
But others defended DeGeneres and pointed out that she and Bolt, who has appeared before on her show, are friends.
One person tweeted, “If Usain was white, y’all wouldn’t care. We all know Ellen isn’t racist & didn’t mean any harm by that. Stop it.”
Elllen later responded to those who called her racist, saying it’s the “furthest thing from who I am.”
Some people are desperate to find racism everywhere, every opportunity to denigrate anyone with a particular skin color (gee, I think there’s a term for that...).
Much as I dislike Ellen, I’ll stand up for her in this case: the picture & caption was FUNNY! and had nothing to do with skin color!
The first one to bring up race is the racist.

We get that all the time.
I guess you are okay with the double standard. She can call people homophobic and racist who clearly aren’t, but she shouldn’t have to live by her own standards.

I don’t like her politic but for me,at times, she can be very funny.

What Ellen is experiencing today, EVERYONE in the
comedy business will be experiencing in a few years
if we don’t stamp-out this PC trend.
I used to find her quite funny when she was a comedian who happened to be a lesbian. For me, she lost a lot of her humor when she became a lesbian who happened to be a comedian.
Keep pushing you racists. It’s beginning to backfire.
Its fun when leftists and assorted SJW’s get attacked by the monsters they helped create.
All I see is a picture of someone worth $200 million riding on the the back of someone worth $60 million.
And they’re both laughing at the rest of us.
