First images of the 23-year-old armed man shot and killed by a Milwaukee police officer, whose death sparked riots and unrest in the city, have surfaced. Officials identified the dead man as Sylville K Smith, previously charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety for his involvement in a shooting last year, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Both Smith and the officer who shot him are black, according to the Chicago Tribune.
During a press conference Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett said a photo shows 'without question' Smith had a gun in his hand. Barrett said that Smith had 'more firepower than the officer', and his handgun was loaded with 23 rounds, which he refused to drop when ordered by police.
Milwaukee Police Chief Edward A Flynn said officers wore body cameras as they approached the vehicle, which they found suspicious, and within 20 to 25 seconds Smith, who had a lengthy rap sheet, was dead. He also said that he would like the body cam video to be released as soon as possible, following due process.
According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Smith received the two charges following a shooting last year, but the details of that shooting were not immediately clear. The charges were later dismissed. From jail Smith called his girlfriend and asked her to pressure a victim into recanting their previous statement, according to the Journal-Sentinel.

That means a court order which means we will see it when it doesn’t matter anymore.
Just like the reckless endangerment charge that gets translated into him shooting someone. That isn't reckless endangerment. His mother said he had a carry permit. Okay, maybe that is what he told her. If he had a long record, an illegal gun that he was brandishing then good riddance.
From a practical standpoint, it doesn’t matter now.
There’s protocol and procedures before releasing a video during an investigation. They are going to do the investigation part involving the video before releasing it. It should probably be released in a week. .
OK... only these minor details do not matter to the NY Times and George Soros! Soon it will be Donald Trump's fault!
Just curious, what do you mean by saying ‘the truth will come out’ and pushing the narrative of family membervhechadca CC. I mean seriously, with just the simple information regarding his criminal history, any idea of a legal carry should not be an issue.
So, tell me please. What is your angle here. What do you think went down? It truly appears you are anti- Leo.
Sorry about that weird typo. Should say ‘pushing the narrative that a family member saying he has a legal CC is truth.
Honestly, let’s look at credibility.
Where in the HELL do these idiots get the money for ALL of these GOLD caps on their teeth???? How in the HELL does ANYONE that looks like this EVER expect to be employable???
Doesn’t appear to be on their agenda or list of priorities.
I didn’t think that people in the hood still did that whole gold cap teeth thing. I think he’s behind the times (/s - humoring myself).
Drug deals. Pulling money from every illegal activity they can get their hands on.
There HAS to be a source for that much money. I’ve been through bloody Hell during this economic disaster and it always floors me when guys like this will pull up at the convenience store/gas station driving Cadillac Escalades that had to cost $45,000-$50,000 new, with $2,000 to $3,000 worth of rims on them. And these vehicles probably average about 8mpg around town - and this was happening when gas was $4 a gallon.
I used to make pretty good money back when things were good and I couldn’t pull off a vehicle that listed for that amount of money. I’m sure some of them are used with high miles, but they still take very expensive parts to keep them going.
He sure appears to be a fine, upstanding citizen. /s
OK, purt much eggzackly what I expected.
I see no downside from his departure, he paid the price for his bad choices in life, now his daughter will have to do the same.
Thanks Dad. Dip$hit.
Fact is, I simply don't believe anybody upfront anymore.
Government has changed.... Laws have changed... policing has changed.
Release the video and then we will know. That's my angle. Maybe the mother is lying or maybe the son was lying to her.
I have no idea what went down, but I don't accept any version upfront.
Well, police don’t wave guns around at a gun range. In fact, I’ve never seen anyone waving guns around at a gun range, as you’ve stated on a previous post. There may be a few bad apples and even untruthful people at that. In fact, I can spot them here on FR.
Unfortunately, CEO’s of major corporations will not see profits in the US unless they can pay their workers here $1 an hour, or reduce their top executive salaries to no more than $1million, instead of the average $22million they are getting, not to mention other high level management wages. I remember when my GE stock plummeted from $50 to $5 a share from 2007 to 2008. I check out the pay of the top 7 GE executive over that period. They were earning from $11million to $22million. ANy pay cuts?? No, no, no!!
Many major corporations won’t, and often contractually CAN’T, do pay cuts for their CEOs, without other long-term benefits. This makes it look like they are being heartless, but they are looking at the bottom line (which is where they are supposed to be looking). But, remember these major corporations are not typically the primary employers in America.
When you start talking about the top 20 major corporations, you are talking about GLOBAL entities that have deliverables beyond just the United States.
I’m NOT saying what they are doing is right or wrong, but once again Liberal policies are designed to create a globalist economy, and then people (Liberals in particular) complain when globalist businesses do business on a global scale.
The 2007-2008 “Great Recession” was very similar to the American Great Depression: it was only “great” in America. Most of the rest of the world didn’t do the same stupid things that FDR and Obama did, and their economies recovered quicker and better than America’s.
More importantly, if you have a problem with GE and their CEO pay, I would suggest you sell your stock and invest in something else - that’s what makes the American economy function.
Maybe you should get out more often.
In fact... since you displayed the attitude: Upon discussing the issue with the range owner, he informed me the same group turned in a handgun they were considering buying with the magazine in, containing rounds, and a round in the chamber.
There may be a few bad apples and even untruthful people at that. In fact, I can spot them here on FR.
A true statement and one not a chance.
Seriously, I go by my own experience. Anyone can make up a story, just as the criminals mother. The fact that you are quoting this woman and making crazy stories about irresponsible gun etiquette at a gun range tells me all I need to know. I honestly do not believe a word you’ve said.
I’m probably three times your age. I got out plenty before getting last year cancer.
