To #200: Accidentally left out Keaton (Old Stone Face - See A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum); Carol Burnett - perhaps the funniest woman alive with Tim Conway; the Mel Brooks insane asylum - Madelaine Kahn, Harvey Korman, Gene Wilder, Terri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman (Hump? What Hump?) and the incredibly funny Kenneth Mars (the German soldier in “The Producers” (Hitler never said “Baby, Baby, Baby” and town policeman in “Young Frankenstein”).

There are so many others who deserve a listing (and the poster who did the cast of “It’s a Mad, Mad World” included many of them.

Milton Berle - Uncle Miltie - one of the best “dressed” women on TV.

The Sid Caesar “Show of Shows” cast - all great. Rosemarie; Morey Amsterdam, Imogene Coca (National Lampoon’s “Vacation”), Louie Nye?, Carl Reiner. All great.

We have been blessed in America to not only have developed the motion picture industry to its peak in entertainment, but also for bringing the best, most talented and funniest people in the world right onto the big screen and TV screens.

I saw an old Phil Silver’s show last night. Just look at the “B” characters. All funny as hell = Harvey Lembeck. Carl ?? the tall guy.

The cast of Barney Miller - all top notch and funny. Some became motion picture actors - Ron Glass; Max Gail, Hal Linden, etc.

And interestingly, just from an “ah ha” revelation, none of them had to cuss on TV or in the early movies, yet they were still able to be visually and verbally very funny.

There were several “Golden Ages” of Comedy and as one Poster mentioned, most of our FReepers over the age of 65 were around to enjoy them first two of them, the 1920’s - 40’, 50s-60’, and later on the 80’s/90’s (if not a Golden Age, then at least a Mini-Golden Age). (Have to include the comedian “Sinbad”. He is too often overlooked but I feel his has been one of the best in the past 20 years.

Gotta add the Jeff Foxworthy gang too. His show was a gut-buster. “If you marry your cousin and she’s still your sister, you gotta be a redneck” (I purloined that from an old joke and updated it).

After that, I feel that gut-funny, well thought-out, and well written comedy went down a lot of toilets and stayed there.

To all those who made us laugh, “Thanks for the memories”.
