I find folks here in Georgia consider the turn signal indicator a stranger.

Also, if you are in the middle lane and signal that you want to get in the far left passing lane, the fellow in your blind spot will match your speed so that he remains in it.

Here in Washington state the guy in the blind spot ALWAYS holds their position there when you want to change lanes.
