Vista was a sorry system when it was new. If I couldn’t take it to either XP or 7, I’d probably just opt for a suitable Linux distribution to end up with a usable box.
Rule of thumb - starting with 3 (bad), 3.1 (good), 95 (bad), 98 (good), ME (bad), XP (good), Vista (bad), 7 (good), 8/8.1 (bad), 9 (would have been good; not released), 10 (bad).
As I mentioned in another reply, the lady to which this laptop belongs is not techsavy, she just wants the laptop back to it's original setting, which in this case is Vista.
*Sigh*
*SMH*
Windows 10 IS “Windows 9.” They skipped the numeric designation due to programming/scripting issues with wildcarding the 9 since Windows 9* would also results in Windows 95 and Windows 98.
Windows 10 is fine if people would just get over the changes to the Start Menu. That’s the only grouse I’ve heard that’s legitimately different from the original.
