So why does the Obama Admin and the MSM refer to it as “ISIS” or “ISIL” here? Because they want to recognize it as a state?
The “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” is abbreviated as ISIS. In Arabic it’s abbreviation is pronounced “Da’aesh”. It means the same thing.
ISIL, the L stands for Levant, which includes Israel. Something which only a few American officials and journalists use to refer to ISIS.
