Hey, free markets is so 20th Century. Didn’t you get the memo, we are all Socialists now. Free markets, in other words, Capitalism, is being squeezed into the dust bind of history by the EBT crowd on one side, and the phony bad back disability crowd on the other. Let’s just ride the Entitlement wave over the cliff. Massive government spending by the new Masterminds is the new rage. It is sweeping the nation.

“Hey, free markets is so 20th Century. Didn’t you get the memo, we are all Socialists now.”

The United States economy grew at its most rapid rate from 1865 to 1900. During that 35 year period the nation transitioned from an agrarian economy devastated by the Civil War to the worlds largest industrial economy. An unprecedented era of technological innovation also occurred in this country during this time as well as the emergence of a strong middle class. During this period the US had the highest protective tariffs in its history. In fact tariffs and duties financed the federal government as there was no federal income tax.

High tariffs, economic growth, and a prosperous middle class. Who would have thought looking at the “prosperity” brought by the modern day free traders and globalists?
