Paul Simon is a good songwriter, but as far as performing not so much. He was nothing without Art Garfunkel IMO.
Thought he was pretty good with Chevy Chase in “You can call me Al”...
I *know* that they hate each other, but face it, Art had the pipes.
Sure Simon had a great career after S&G, and maybe he hated the fact that he was the songwriter, but the truth is, they needed each other to reach such great heights.
IDK why Paul doesn't realize that.
Without Art, he wouldn't have had the "opportunity" to make the great music that came later.
I always enjoyed Simon's live performance of "Bridge" on Live Rhymon'. It goes on a bit long for my taste, but the gospel style is a nice touch and there's certainly nothing wrong with his voice.
Obviously there's a difference between what he could sing in his early 30s and what he can sing now in his 70s. Time to call it a day, Paul.
