That once widely speculated pick, has clearly been overtaken by events.
Although it is a long shot, things usually change a lot over the course of a campaign - which doesn’t start in earnest until September.
Bernie really stood in contrast to Cruz, in his full-throated endorsement of his party though. Made Cruz look even a bit worse in my book.
After a couple of weeks out in the cold licking wounds and re-assessing options, Cruz may well adjust strategy. Time will tell, and public opinion can be fickle.

Pence points out opponents failures, but with a tone more like a disappointed preacher than a bitter ex-spouse.
In some ways, he is better at delivering negative info. They really need that to smooth over reactions, when Trump occasionally leaves people sore by being rougher than they are comfortable. Pence can re-phrase criticisms acceptably, right on the spot.
