I also think that Trump allowing Cruz to go ahead and speak, knowing he wasn't going to support him, showed a great deal of strength - and leadership. He allowed someone with a different opinion to still reach out and I think he gambled on the speech going the opposite way that Cruz hoped. For sure.

I also think it was a calculated move by Cruz - now he stays relevant for the next for months while those around Trump keep talking to him asking for support before the election.
