I think this was a set up. The 'plagiarized" parts were merely cliches that have probably been inserted in thousands of political speeches over the years. It's not like they contained some profound new insight that's burst upon the body politic. And yet a couple of mundane passages were immediately recognized by the MSM as being lifted from a speech that the Wookie made 8 years ago! They even had the text of that speech handy so they could throw up screen shots to prove how similar they were.
Definitely a set up.

It doesn't matter whether the parts copied were a string of platitudes or not. It was an extended ripoff. The words and the thoughts as arranged were the same. Shenanigans!
Plus, as you point out, there might have been a heads-up to the media. Trump needs to get to the bottom of it or stuff like this will keep on happening.
