I recall a documentary about a big family, who had one member that was gay. This was way back around 1970,when it was still rare for that topic to be brought up with any seriousness.
They may have been the first reality show of that kind.
I think it was and the homo kid was “celebrated” for his “historic coming out”
And of course, he later becomes a meth addict and HIV positive. Dead with Hep C and HIV by age 50.

Yes ... “An American Family.” It was before my time, but IIRC the homosexual son took his mother to a drag show when she came to visit him in NYC.
