While I can agree with certain elements of your post, particularly concerning the motivation of these troublemakers, I cannot help but think that this did not work out too well for them in 1968. The unrest that year was far greater van anything that we have seen this year, and Nixon’s Silent Majority came out and denied the choice of the troublemakers for the presidency.
Also, while it is true that a lot of the Silent Majority of 48 years ago is dead and gone, people still value stability and peace in their lives. You will see a tremendous number of people coming out to vote for Trump this year, for the simple reason that he represents a return to stability. All that this violence, and threats to violence, do is to scare the hell out of the average person. In this way, the troublemakers are the cause of their own undoing. Let them riot, they are tightening the noose around their own necks.

In 68 no, but they are where they are today because they
learned how to use the tactics successfully, and have
been using it for the last 40 years.
This is only the beginning of a long hot summer...
My best to you, maintain situational awareness
and be ready for what ever occurs.
Very conflated statement. The Silent Majority defeated Humphrey who was NOT the choice of the "troublemakers"...remember "Dump the Hump"? The "troublemakers" were crusading against the RATS.
As to degree of unrest, in 68 the big bruhaha was in Chicago at the RAT convention...during a RAT administration. The GOP convention was a few weeks later in Miami and there was little in the way of protests there.
Today, again during a RAT administration, we have a lot deadlier lead-up to the conventions and this time the GOP convention comes first. The Rats have learned, with the help of the MSM AND the GOP, to deflect the rage toward Trump instead of at the administration and Congress that have brought about the conditions we now face.
