We had a brand new Chevy Monza, and Igor and the kids and I were just coming back from a trip someplace in St Louis to home in St Charles. We just turned off the freeway onto the road that led into the apartment complex and the right front strut broke. There we sat.
It was the last on a long list of things that was wrong with that car, and the company towed it, and fixed it. But Igor was boiling. What if it HAD broken on the freeway?
It was only in later years that I actually understood what the danger was, because I had learned much more about what makes a car. Then is when I heaved a large sigh of relief.
I’m hearing in my mind, “Chevy Monza, Two Plus Two.” Was that a thing, or have I gone ‘round the bend?
A bit of a heart stopping thought , isn’t it.
All it needs is a tube between the spring cup and wishbone for the strut to live in. (Have been outside and looked. :) )
