The point I was trying to make is that we have a lot to do with the resources we have, (here in the solar system), before any of us will be ready to leave for other stars.
Venus has perhaps the most stable orbit in the solar system, and while what it is is not very comforting to our notions of hospitality, changing it in any way would take absolutely enormous effort.
I don't think "terraforming" Venus is even remotely possible. But it still has potential if we are willing to work with it as it is.
Changing another entity to conform to my preconceived norms is a concept foreign to my value system. You know, “I’m O.K., you’re O.K.”? We’re all O.K.!
