I read an interesting article in the Guardian that the beef from Spanish bullfights is much desired. A delicacy used in tapas.

The captive bolt (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN) is used today but in the past the sledge hammer was used. I’ve seen several old beef skulls hanging with clear hammer indentations. Others had bullet holes in them.
I saw a photo several years back of an old sledge hammer with a spike welded onto the face of it, for killing beef.
