To him it WAS war. So, he employed tactics that are common in war. I vehemently oppose WHAT he did, and I hope he burns in hell for all eternity, but if his aim was to be as effective as possible (which is what war is all about), the tactics he employed were sound. And, he did not fire on unarmed civilians; he fired on armed men and women. You find more fault with his tactics than with the crime itself.
