The Deer Hunter was horrible. It started out with the characters in PA and jumped them to the far west. Then, in Nam they started out serving in the military and were mysteriously discharged while in Nam. That’s not what I heard while serving stateside in’68 and ‘69. The process was to ship the troops home on troop transports and release them for active service once they were stateside.
The deviants in Hollywood have a standing “right” to ignore the truth. Never let the truth get in the way of the agenda.
That’s a pretty trivial objection.
I agree. Deer Hunter was not all that.
Sorry for the loss but both of those movies were Blech!
The Deer Hunter was horrible.
...
I’ve never seen it. I recently read about it, which made me glad I’ve never seen it.
I thought The Deer Hunter was pretty good. The main thing I disliked about the movie was casting Meryl Streep, she’s homely and off-putting. I would have thought her character could have been a little more attractive. I think she was the weak link in that film. Walken was outstanding.
Don’t know about the authenticity as compared to the reality of the war but it was, after all, fiction.
I think those were supposed to be Pennsylvania mountains.
Chimino certainly wasn't the first director to shoot stuff that was supposed to happen back east out west (in this case the Cascade Mountains of Washington State).
You could go crazy if you let the California light and scenery in every movie that's set somewhere else get under your skin.
