It was Costco, and I read that it wasn't Costco that dumped Amex but rather the other way around.

Amex was looking out for their bottom line and a new agreement with Costco wasn't going to help it.

Thanks for the additional info. Their continual raising of fees to small companies rather reminds me of those that keep pushing the increase in the minimum wage. Pretty soon AMEX is going to also find themselves with an insufficient amount of other people’s money.

Part of all of this is due to the provisions of the Dodd-Franks bill which did nothing to protect consumers but put a whole lot of money in a couple of businesses pocket because of mandated security software which user companies had to purchase from them. Several small businesses I know of quit taking all credit cards. They felt they either had to do this or raise their prices. Two owners I know well said their business has not suffered as a result of this change.
