The rule of thumb is that a yacht cost 10% of purchase price...per year...for crew and maintenance.
There is an '07 Abeking & Rasmussen yacht, same approximate length and same manufacturer as the Excellence V, for $48.9 Million
The Excellence V charters for $661k per week (fuel extra) She has a 30,115 gallon fuel capacity. (BURP)
That's a competition I'd love to be able to afford........LOL!
A league of his own:
A directory of 55+ Herb Chambers Car Dealerships lists their OEM brand portfolio in Massachusetts and New England. In 2015, at the age of 74, he was named as one of the 400 richest Americans, ranking number 392, with an estimated $1.7 billion, by Forbes magazine.
:)
According to Herb:
“You’re not making money chartering, but you can cover most or all of your operating costs and keep the crew busy,” he said. “The real profit opportunity, though, comes when you sell the boat,” he said, adding that the value of the Excellence III has risen 50 percent since he bought it four years ago.
In 25 years of renting his yachts, he said he had experienced no accidents or damage. “There is no downside,” he said.
