More than 30 people who attended an event with motivational speaker Tony Robbins have been treated for burns after Robbins encouraged them to walk on hot coals as a way of conquering their fears, Dallas fire officials said.
Five people were taken to a hospital Thursday night, while the rest were treated at the scene for burns to their feet and lower extremities, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.
The hot coals were spread outside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center

Actually, the key is making sure the coals have no liquid left in them and that you have to have enough ASH over the coals to provide protection.
Obviously someone messed something up if 30 folks got burned doing it.
Do I get 30 guesses as to whom it might be?
I once attended one of his appearances as a guest of a real estate agent whose company paid to send its employees to hear him.
I found him to be slick, glib and devoid of any new ideas and came away thinking that the real estate company had wasted its money.
I wonder if they are now ‘motivated’ to sue.
Well he is motivational. /s
Was Alicia Keyes song playing in the background? “This girls is on fire, she got het feet on the ground, they’re smelling bad and turnin brow...her feet are fire”

I knew this idiot had done this before!
Quick someone call Benny Hinn to come and heal them!!!
This made my day. Firewalking is a familiar woo woo trick and Robbins has been running the scam for 35 years. There is nothing supernatural or metaphysical about it at all. The trick is having the coals properly prepared, with the very low density ash material actually transferring very little heat despite being hot enough to glow. If Robbins and his marks could walk across a hot steel plate, I would be duly impressed. It is also necessary to step very quickly and not leave any particular area of skin in contact with the ash for more than a fraction of a second. This rules out pausing for selfies.
They got burned when they paid the fee for the event.
Very true.
No. It’s to not make the coals TOO hot
I read the article, and those nimrods WERE taking selfies!
LOL
Sheesh
” or these folks are really stupid.”
It would appear!
