Interesting article... Over the weekend a commercial for the new Independence Day movie was on and my agnostic niece started complaining that there are no movies with highly evolved peaceful loving aliens that come to help - share wisdom and knowledge – peace and love… Well, it was Father’s Day weekend and I chose not to engage – it was a pick your battles moment and everyone was having a good time – why argue over a silly commercial…

That said, when she asked the question about highly evolved peaceful loving aliens I immediately thought – from her agnostic view - why would evolution produce such aliens? Wouldn’t evolution be far more likely to produce efficient killers and breeders? We are told by biologists that sharks have generally been in stasis for several million years because they are efficient killing machines. Why should we expect mindless evolution to produce advanced conscious and conscience intelligence? If aliens did exist, shouldn’t we expect heartless killers from an agnostic point of view?

Then who/what has been abducting people for centuries, taking them to the big one in the sky, probing, tickling, inpregnating them, etc.?

Wouldn’t evolution be far more likely to produce efficient killers and breeders?

'Evolution', if it exists, seems to adapt/evolve from a lower state to a higher state.

So, then, why/how would mankind have 'evolved' a brain that they only use 20% or less of?
