Congrats! Proud day!! I did my AF basic at Lackland in 1970. First week was rough, mostly mental games plus sleep deprivation and long marches. Not too bad after that. Don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from him for awhile. They are pretty strict about that, trying to turn a motley group of civilians into a real part of the armed forces.
I did mine in 1967, retired in 87. I was at Laughlin for 9 years, so I got back to Lackland a lot. I went to the NCO Academy there, when I was at Travis.
Tell the kid to say to the DI that he would like to sleep in the first few days.
