Ride MARTA cross town at night. Or bicycle the Silver Comet trail. Either should give you a good adrenalin boost if you survive contact with the natives.
On a more serious note - if you like history visit the site of the Yankee defeat at Kennesaw Mountain (which isn’t in Kennesaw) Good views from the mountain top, and some preserved earthworks off of Ga 120 (Whitlock Ave/Dallas Highway) west of the high school on the same side of the highway. Also a large National Cemetery and a smaller Confederate one located a few miles apart in Marietta. Then up the road to Kennesaw to see the General.
In Atlanta, the Cyclorama has been restored, and the Texas used to be located there, as well (haven’t been in decades).
If you want to see how Native Americans really lived, run a couple of hours up the road toward Chattanooga and visit the Chief Vann house http://gastateparks.org/ChiefVannHouse/
I'm familiar with what MARTA stands for (the "unofficial" anyway) .. no thanks! :-)
Thanks for the tip on Chief Vann house. We're stopping in Chattanooga tomorrow and spending the night before hitting Atlanta on Thursday morning. Will check that out.
If you get anywhere around Kennesaw Mountain, seek and find Mountain Biscuit. Best biscuit and fillings I’ve ever had. Owner sells Trump swag in her place too.
