Looks like there really is a market for them. Do you think you could make any money @ 1/4 LB for 8 bucks?

.

AD from Amazon.

I went to college in western NC and encountered ramps while there. I tried them at a festival. Peculiar flavor when cooked, an acquired taste. Skilled chefs are able to do some nice things with them, though. Eaten raw, they’ll take your breath away, lol. Not for the faint of heart.

Looks like it. The price would have to come way down before I would give it a try.

If a place is infested with bugs, normal people spray to get rid of them. They don’t eat them.

I grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee...I was sent home from school when I was in the 2nd grade because my dad and I feasted on ramps and “killed” lettuce the night before...LOL

Some day cats will patiently wait under the dinner table hoping and praying a cricket will be tossed their way . . . that is assuming that cats aren’t themselves part of the new wave of culinary treats.

We are progressing! More and more like Asia every day!

It looks like our Creator would not object to the notion of eating them.

Leviticus 11:22
“Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.”

That was under the law . . . we are now under grace so we can eat good stuff like pizza and potato chips and french fries!

With what was on the menu I could never have been an Old Testament Jew.

Funny thing about cats - they like their prey alive.

"....my dad and I feasted on ramps and "killed" lettuce the night before."

Would you mind terribly if I asked you to translate that sentence into English?

Thanks.

It’s a southern dish...

Ramps are a wild plant...Kind of a cross between a garlic and an onion...
Killed lettuce is shredded lettuce with the ramps put in then hot bacon grease poured over it...
