Yes. And let’s ban fraternities, sororities, and anything else that makes the college experience fun.

“anything else that makes the college experience fun”

Especially student debt.

Fraternities, and sororities are a tradition, university sports can be done without. It’s not necessary to have a ton of athletic programs. A lot of the athletes don’t even study serious subjects or study at all. They just get drunk, stoned, and in their spare time vandalize the immediate area. Too many of them are not college/university material.

If every student had to pay a “fraternity and sorority fee” I would agree with this statement. Fun is something that should not require a subsidy from a university and to the extent it does, should be abolished.

Aren't fraternities and sororities fully privately organized and funded organizations?

Maybe that is what needs to be done with athletics on the college level. They could be fully privatized and owned privately. They could pay private fees to the college for use of the school's name and facilities.

Essentially and fundamentally, K-12 and state university sports teams ( other than intramural) are farm teams for the big leagues that are supported by the taxpayers. These teams are a tail that wags the dog in many many ways.
