Having an outdoor event on a beach at ground level beside a body of water with alligators, at night, with tourists who aren’t even thinking about such a thing, was a disaster waiting to happen if the resort didn’t have any sort of measures in place to prevent alligators from coming up onto the beach. I tend to think they’re going to have a liability problem.

That well may be, but HOW does a parent not NOTICE an ALLIGATOR getting close to their child???

You are correct about the risks of such an event. Disney though has a massive injury claim defense team, hangs tough when cases go to court, and tries to settle for as little as possible. And, being both of good repute and economically important to the Orlando economy, Disney does not fear going to trial.
