Have you considered running a bootable disc with Kiosk Linux on it instead of allowing your windows machine on the internet? You can boot off of the disc when you wish to go online and browse and email to your heart’s content, and the disc will not allow anything to be written or saved to your machine.
Then, for any other purposes you can continue using your machine for any other tasks you need it for.
That will not only stop any and all virus and malware infections from afflicting your machine, it will also completely stop the nagware and “upgrade” attempts we are currently struggling with.
You might want to give it a try, and it’s completely free to download and burn.
Cheers. :)
Thank you so much. I am seemingly enjoying smooth sailing presently, but Windows updates are not loading apparently, since the icon is always on, and asking to update.
I will save your advice and deliberate on it. Thank you. Rita
