The original “War of the Worlds” was much better than the remake. (I called the remake “Independence day meets Star Wars (Imperial walkers). I walked out halfway through.

The original “Flight of the Phoenix” was much better than the remake.

Flight of the Phoenix was a haunting film.

Sorcerer was a remake of The wages of fear and was spectacular but was eclipsed by star wars/

On the other hand, The Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart was a remake and the better version. But it represents an exception. Your point is accurate. Hollywood almost always produces drek when attempting remakes.

That is one of my favorite movies...

I was around 10 years old and saw it for the first time...completely engrossed in the story line and was cheering at the end...

LOL... my heart was in my throat when they put the last cartridge in to start the engine...

The remake wasn't bad, just not as good as the original
