Hmmm. I seem to remember vocalizing those words in July of 1967. I still hold myself to them today. My dad swore me in. That was cool. He was an O-6 Navy and I was about to become an E-1 Navy. LOL!

To me, that oath I took is no different than when you are called back to the witness stand and the judge reminds you that you are “still under oath”. In or out of service, it means I am still sworn until the day I die. At 70 I can still shoot reasonably straight and when needs be, I damn sure will.
