Erdogan continues to show what a self centered and classless act he is. A Head of State goes to the funeral of a globally known sports star and fumes because he doesn't get what he wants.
I know folks around here have split opinions about Ali, but funerals are about the deceased and their family.
Unless there is some close connection of which I am unaware, Erdogan should have known he wouldn't speak.

ISIS supporting Erdogan apparently doesn’t understand the difference between Black Muslims and the rest of the Muslim world. He is just another one of those white devils to NoI.
He (Erdogan) probably needs to read up on Malcolm X.

It says he was initially told he would speak, he as on the original list of speakers but cut after he had already flown to the USA.
It sounds like he went for publicity stunt

he wanted the head of Turkey's religious affairs directorate to recite part of the Koran, but his wish had been refused
I might be wrong on this but I don't think that Ali's "religion" has any association with the Koran nor do I think that Ali was that active in the group that took him in and used him.
I only mention this because it was in approx. 1984 when Ali disassociated himself from Calypso Louie due to his inflammatory remarks about Jews........

Why would a head-of-state go to this funeral anyway?

I’m getting a little tired of the non-stop coverage of Ali’s death. This is a guy who beat people up for a living. He didn’t cure cancer, he didn’t bring world peace, he punched people in the face. Enough already.
