Rest in peace, Kyu Sakamoto.
Hope you enjoy. Sukiyaki
A taste of honey - Sukiyaki (classic) 1981

I don’t know a word of Japanese but I have always liked this song.
Glad to hear that. You are welcome.
That’s a great story, lol! Thanks for sharing that.
Japan Airlines Flight 123 -crashed August 12, 1985.
Earlier in it’s life, the Boeing 747 suffered a tail strike on takeoff or landing. The pressure bulkhead at the back end of the aircraft was damaged and repaired, improperly, by Boeing. It failed, taking out the aircraft controls. It crashed several hours later, killing 520 of the 524 on board, including Kyu Sakamoto.

Wow, brings back the memories.
Iwakuni Japan 1966.
The base newspaper was called The Tori Teller
and there was a little noodle shop right by the
gate. On the base side the sign said, “First Chance Restaurant” and on the other side of the sign it said,
“Last Chance restaurant” Bento boxes of fried rice
eaten in barracks. Not chinese fried, japanese fried,
almost white with peas and carrots. Eighty pounders
of Akadama Port wine, chased with gin. Ah, the old days.
Yeah, I always liked it. Pretty song.
It's surprising that the lyrics are so sad. The tune didn't seem sad at all. I do remember reading about about Mr. Sakamoto's untimely death.
Doo-wop forever!
