Probably the F-4 just hit his afterburner. That boom is quite loud.

Actually, not much of a bang as it has a multi-stage burner. Gets loud, but not the bang the old turbojets had like the F-8. Stood behind more than a few of them in my day.

I did a little time in the MIANG in the 70’s. Every morning during summer camp, two of these bad boys would fly low over Camp Grayling to perform wake up duties. They'd pitch up and hit their afterburners. Since we were the only AF on base we'd get blamed. We were the DAS controllers so I guess we couldn't plead ignorance. Those RF-101C's did BOOM, they shook the entire area.
